What to DO when you get arrested:
It is a stressful experience to be stopped or arrested by the

Despite any feelings of anger or frustration you may feel, it is in your
best interest to try to avoid conflict with the officer and obey
his/her commands.

- Give your name and address to the officer –SAY NOTHING ELSE.
- Remember (write down) the Officer’s name and badge number.
- DO NOT RESIST ARREST (never touch an officer).
- Ask for a lawyer as soon as you are arrested. Do not speak to the police without a lawyer present.
